I was wondering how your Panasonic install went on your mac mini ? I am looking to add a slot load BluRay drive to mine, so wonderered if yours was a success and if you can tell me where I can get a slot load, internal sata drive that will fit inside the mac mini? May 17, AM. My mac also reccognises Blu-Ray, but to play them not rip you need to buy an expensive peice of software called Blu ray player for mac. I did download it Demo only and it seems to work relativly well but would not pay this price as i rip them to HD anyway as said then play back in VLC. You have to remove the bezel off the front of the new bluray drive but it just clips off, so dead easy. Macblurayplayer doesn't work with the most recent bluray discs like "Life" the new BBC documentaries in bluray etc.

Remove the top metal shell of the drive itself, by removing its four screws. You'll also have to peel off a strip of silver tape that connects the top shell to the bottom shell.
